I'm a cheater; I still nurse my two-year-old daughter to sleep. This is the snuggliest, most comforting way to easer her into dreams. While I nurse her, I talk about all the things Jehovah God and Jesus made for us, including "baba's", trees, butterflies.... Sometimes, instead of asking for baba before bed, my girl starts talking about nature and then I know she's tired.

I have 4 kids, so I have learned that each child is different. One thing that has worked with all four kids is putting them in their car seat, all snug and warm with blankey, and put them in the laundry room with me on the floor (NOT on top of the washing machine). I guess all the "white" noise and vibration from the washing machine puts them to sleep. Even my youngest son who had colic SUPER bad, would fall asleep every time. Very soothing to a baby!
