Why Should You Start Exercising Now?

We will always have reasons why we prefer to set aside exercise for other activities. It is also a known fact that a lot of people have dropped out of fitness programs, or have given up trying to exercise because of countless reasons. Some individuals may have given up exercise because they want to see instant results in their body. While it can indeed help an individual lose weight, it can also improve other very important aspects in your life.

Exercise is a good way to counteract stress. Even a quick 30 minute walk can make you feel relaxed, after a very tiring day from work. Regular exercise can also boost your confidence and self-esteem. If you are feeling low lately, why not hit the gym, or go to the park for some physical activity with your kids. These activities can help you feel better because exercise can reduce feelings of anxiety and depression.

Exercise will always be part of a weight loss plan. Exercise allows you to burn off calories, and is crucial in controlling your weight. You can even insert physical activity in your daily routine. Prefer the stairs instead of elevators, and take walking breaks during lunch break. While doing grocery shopping, take your time to go around before you grab the things that you need. While keeping an exercise schedule is good, you can burn more calories if you try to add more physical activities in your usual routine.

Engaging in regular physical activity can also do more for you than just burn calories. Exercise is very good for your heart. It helps in lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, or the “bad cholesterol”. It can also increase the levels of the “good cholesterol” in your body, which is known as the high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Even regular walking programs can help in regulating blood pressure, which can contribute to the development of heart disease. Exercise is definitely good for your heart, and it can even reduce your risk of a heart attack.

Exercise is also a good way in reducing your risk of having Type 2 diabetes. Women who are overweight, and who are at risk of developing the disease, should try to make time for a regular walking exercise. This is essential because it can improve the body’s ability in processing sugar. If you already have Type 2 diabetes, it’s never too late to start walking. Aside from improving your body’s ability to process sugar, it can also lower your sugar levels, and reduce complications such as heart disease. Another benefit is that it improves your cardiovascular health.

Since exercise can help your overall health and well-being, it can also improve your sexual health. Men who exercise regularly are less likely to have problems with erectile dysfunction. Research has also shown that 20 minutes of regular exercise for women resulted to greater sexual response.

If you have been having sleep problems, exercise might be a good way for you to have restful sleep. Late afternoon workouts may be helpful in promoting better sleep. The natural dip in body temperature after five to six hours post-exercise can promote sleep. When you exercise regularly, it can help you fall asleep faster, and it can also deepen your sleep.

While it may be hard to stick to an exercise program, involving the entire family for a fun physical activity can be a good way to keep moving. Besides, exercise doesn’t have to be boring. Try to be creative and vary your physical activity from time to time. Whether you take your kids to play at the park, or you play ball with them, the important thing is that you are moving. If allotting time for exercise can help you live life to the fullest, then it is definitely worth all the time and effort.
