I had two boys and I sincerely believe it was much easier raising them than it would have been if they had been girls. Especially during puberty I imagine that are added concerns with girls when it comes to sexual activity. Given the statistics that 1 in 4 girls is sexually abused in her life by someone she knows is something that would make having girls an added responsibility. I know that it has been a burden for my sister who had two girls and is ever vigilant. My responsibility on the other hand was to make sure my sons were raised knowing that in all situations they had to respect and cherish the opposite sex if when they didn't always act like they deserved it. That knowledge has served them well and now that my oldest son is the father of a girl he has the responsibility of not protecting her but teaching her to protect herself in a world that demeans women at every turn.

I have 1 teen daughter and 2 school age sons and for me boys are harder to raise. They play rough and get hurt more often, in my experience they are more emotional and get angry easier, they tend to be louder when they talk. It's also harder to get my boys to be affectionate and talk openly.

I think boys are harder...at least in my case. My boy has TONS of energy. He is very stubborn and strong-willed. He was also very difficult to potty train. We had all the tools: books, DVDs, various potty chairs, pull-ups, etc., but he refused to go...until he wanted to. But then again, my girl is only 3.5 months old so I can't say whether or not she will be easy or difficult to raise.
